What did the Bago Magic have done in Year 2005?

In 2005, Bago Magic Performance Group received funding from the Regional Arts Fund. Drama, music, and visual arts teachers guided the group in the creation of "Island Dreaming". On the Saturday, 24th September, a matinee and an evening show were presented at the Player's Theatre Port Macquarie.

Participants were involved in making costumes backdrops and props, writing and performing music and song, development of scripts and characters, dance, acting, back stage, front of house and make-up. Over 45 participants were involved in the show, some people duplicating roles, showing a variety of skills learnt. The National Bank in Wauchope donated $1,000.

The project caught the eye of some film students in Armidale who were so impressed by the performance group that theyt made a documentary. Bago Magic Performance Group were invited to attend and to perform at the Aqua Sculpture Festival. The group rearranged certain scenes of their "Island Dreaming" show to perform a relevant skit on global warming on island, wildlife and community. For International Day of People with a DisAbility 2005, the group arranged a radio interview, a speech and a Funky Dance Party. Before the party started there was a screening of the documentary of "Island Dreaming" and a BBQ dinner.
